Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: April 2026
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines prohibited activities on the Dev Platform service. It supplements our Terms of Service and applies to all users regardless of plan.
Dev Platform provides ephemeral development environments that run on shared infrastructure. Misuse of any single environment affects all users and exposes the operator to legal risk.
2. Prohibited activities
You must not use Dev Platform environments to:
Network attacks & scanning
- Port scanning, network probing, or vulnerability scanning of any system you do not own.
- DDoS attacks, traffic amplification, or flooding of any kind.
- Operating open proxies, VPNs, Tor exit nodes, or any anonymization relay.
- Spoofing IP addresses or other network identifiers.
Illegal content & activity
- Hosting, distributing, or processing illegal content under Swiss law.
- Distributing malware, ransomware, spyware, or exploit kits.
- Phishing, social engineering, or credential harvesting.
- Any activity that violates applicable data protection laws (GDPR, nDSG).
Resource abuse
- Cryptocurrency mining (any proof-of-work or proof-of-stake operations).
- Running production workloads or services intended for end-users.
- Intentionally exhausting CPU, memory, storage, or bandwidth to disrupt the service.
- Circumventing plan limits, quotas, or TTL restrictions through any means.
Spam & abuse
- Sending unsolicited email, SMS, or messages (spam) from any environment.
- Operating mail relays, bulk mailers, or message-bombing tools.
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans or limits.
3. Monitoring & enforcement
We actively monitor all environments for policy violations. This includes:
- Network traffic analysis — outbound connection patterns, port usage, and traffic volume.
- Resource monitoring — CPU, memory, and disk I/O per container.
- Behavioral analysis — automated detection of mining, scanning, and abuse patterns.
- Security logging — all significant events are logged with timestamps and user association.
Suspicious activity triggers automatic alerts. Severe violations may result in immediate automatic suspension of your account without prior notice.
4. Consequences
Depending on severity, violations result in:
- Warning — first-time minor violation, you'll be notified by email.
- Temporary suspension — account and all environments frozen for review.
- Permanent ban — account terminated, all data deleted, no refund.
- Legal action — in cases of criminal activity, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement.
5. False positives & appeals
If your account was suspended by mistake, you can request a review by emailing support@devplat.ch with your account email and a brief explanation.
We review all appeals within 48 hours. If the suspension was a false positive, your account will be restored immediately.
6. Reporting abuse
If you discover abuse originating from Dev Platform, please report it to abuse@devplat.ch. Include as much detail as possible (timestamps, IPs, logs).
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this AUP as threats evolve. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.
